Building Respect Through Dance

About Us

ballroom dance bay areaAdrian Flores is a professional Ballroom Dancer who retired from competition in 1992. He now teaches a program called Building Respect Through Dance™.

Building Respect Through Dance™ is a multi-faceted program that brings ballroom dance to K-12 classrooms, to promote physical, emotional and social health and well-being; and to encourage and support healthy, productive relationships defined by respect, cooperation and tolerance among all people. This program is designed to use the dance art form to practice respect. The outcome is to show how we can use dance teams to prove that the language of respect can be fun and very effective.

There are 13 Steps to a great dance team that will produce fantastic results because it is all about teamwork, being a team player and the respect we must have for ourselves as well as our team. Once you learn the language of a great dance team you can create a team effort in everything you do in your private or professional life.

adrian flores presentsThe issues we are addressing in this program are obesity, domestic abuse, gangs, raising our children with both a mother and a father, safe neighborhoods, success in our jobs, success in our relationships, never feeling alone, respectful dating, boundaries, the patriotic spirit, a connection to our family, friends and social consciousness. This we do through dance because it is an artform that requires cooperation between two people, usually a man and a woman.

We must respect each others gifts as gender opposites and not be in competition with each other. We must gain the stability as a country by connecting citizens to their responsible roles with integrity as friends, family and responsible partners on the same team.

We will start another year of what is now a cross generational "Building Respect Through Dance" team, ages 8 years to 88 years. Training will begin after we meet with interested parties at a meeting at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, 1290 Ridder Park Dr., in San Jose, on Saturday, January 5, at 3pm.

A business can sponsor a child or a senior for this program or you can sponsor yourself and get double benefit. The program costs $295 and includes your Tuxedo or Gown, a graduation with a Certificate of Achievement given to you by the Chief of Police, Rob Davis, Food and Tickets to the Professional Show "The Elegant Era" (the show where everyone dances) and a picnic the following day after the show and lessons with the Stars of the Professional Show.
