Western Hospitality At Its Best!

Welcome!

Still serving up the best hospitality in the west, Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch has been the perfect western getaway to relax and put the stress of everyday life on hold since 1962! Horseback riding is the main activity at Greenhorn. We ride on thousands of acres of Plumas National Forest in Northern California's most scenic region.

Summer is packed full of activities like swimming, frog racing, fishing and a real rodeo where you, our guests, are the featured attraction! Spring and fall offer the perfect setting for meetings and retreats, family reunions and special events. Take advantage our new Equine Guided Learning & Development Program designed to strengthen yourself, family, or organization. In any season, you are sure to take home a saddlebag full of memories!

Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch is located approximately 160 miles north of Sacramento in the northern Sierra Mountains near the town of Quincy, California. Getting to Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch is easy whether you’re driving or flying.

About Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch
Located in beautiful "Feather River Country" between the historical towns of Graeagle and Quincy. The Ranch is driving distance from the scenic Feather River Canyon and the most rugged trans-sierra railroad line in California. This is truly a recreational paradise for people who love fresh mountain air, blue skies, spectacular views, starry nights, and horseback riding.

This spectacular and tranquil setting for Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch offers guests a wide variety of activities. Estray Creek flows through the ranch, feeding two ponds and providing water for our 100+ horses. Both ponds are stocked with trout and ready for fishing. If you catch it - want to eat it - we'll cook it!

When you're not riding, there's lots of choices of things to do for all ages: hiking & exploring, fishing, swimming and horseshoes. During our summer season, there are scheduled activities including volleyball, softball and our one-of-a-kind Guest Rodeo.

The swimming pool is a great way to relax after a long trail ride. There is no lifeguard on duty but parents can watch their kids swim from the deck area just ouside the dance hall, which also overlooks the corral. The pool is heated during the spring, summer and fall and is oh so refreshing!

Facilities
Main Lodge
- Two-story lodge has our office/guest check-in, 10 rooms, large fireplace for warming up on chilly mornings, public computer, small library, our gift shop, and an upstairs balcony for sittin’ and relaxing.
Private Cabins - Nestled in the tall pines are 16 cabins, all within a very short walk to the Chuck House, Saloon, Main Lodge, and the stables.
Gift Shop - We have a small gift shop in the main lodge open from sun up to sun down. If you need it we probably have it, including an assortment of shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, bandanas, hats, sunscreen, sundries, fishin’ stuff, laundry soap, souvenirs, and more.
Guest Computer - In the main lodge we have a public computer for guest use with high-speed wireless on an open network for use on your laptop.
Chuck House - Located across from the main lodge, and adjacent to the saloon is our Chuck House. Except when you’re eating on the trail, you’ll enjoy your meals here. Everything is family style, and you’ll be sitting down with the wranglers to eat. The menu varies daily, and we include a salad bar and kid-friendly menu.
Outdoor BBQ and Picnic Areas - There’s plenty of outdoor cookin’ and eatin’ at Greenhorn. We have a large outdoor BBQ and picnic area overlooking the upper pond.
Campfire - Next to our picnic area is a large campfire area. Expect to be roastin' marshmallows, singin' and enjoyin' the campfire when you come visit us.
Saloon and Dance Hall -
Across from the chuck house is our saloon and dance hall. In the saloon you can purchase beer and wine in the afternoon and evening, along with sodas and ice cream for the kids. This is also where we hold many of our evening events like line dancing, bingo, poker karaoke, and parties.
Game Room - We have a game room for the kids with a pool table, air hockey machine, other games, and two card tables. The game room is located in the saloon.
Kiddie Corral - For children ages 3-5 we provide a Kiddie coral program with games, pony rides, arts and crafts, and other activities - even a petting zoo. This gives parents with small children the opportunity to ride during the day.
Fishing Ponds - There are two ponds for fishing. The upper pond is the most poplar, and picturesque and just a few feet from the cabins and picnic area. There’s trout fishin’ (and frog catchin’ for the frog races!). If you catch a fish just bring it over to the chuck house and we’ll cook it up for you. There’s also a place where you can dig for worms. Plus, if you forget your fishin’ pole we have a few extras you can borrow.
Exercise Equipment - Although you’ll enjoy plenty of horseback riding, we do have a small exercise area. On the pool deck, there is a treadmill, health rider, and weight machine.
Rodeo Arenarodeo - The rodeo arena and stables are where you’ll meet up with the wranglers before every ride. The arena is where we give short group lessons before each ride, and where we hold our guest rodeo. We also have a round pen for working with the horses. If you need a little help from your wranglers to get acquainted with your horse, the round pen offers a nice bit of privacy.
Volleyball and Horseshoes - Out on the main lawn we have two horseshoe pits for tossing horseshoes. We also set up a volleyball for a rousing game of Guests versus Wranglers.
Heated Pool - The pool is next to the saloon and is heated and refreshing! There are plenty of lounge chairs for nappin’ and sunnin', plus the saloon is right there if you want a “cold one”.
Baby Sitting - We can arrange for baby sitting with a local sitting service. Just let us know and we can make arrangements for you (fee extra).
