cesar chavezThe Event – Book by John Reeger, Music & Lyrics by Julie Shannon
Since Cesar Chavez passed away, the Chavez Family Vision has produced a yearly event to celebrate the legacy of this revered hero. Marches, entertainment, lectures have all contributed to the success of this locally produced celebration. In October of 2006, Rita Chavez Medina, Cesar’s sister, along with her local family members came to Sacramento to witness the Western States premiere of “Let the Eagle Fly”.
After viewing this powerful production, the Chavez family were so moved by the authenticity and accurate re-enactments of the events in Cesar’s life, we pursued a collaborative effort between the Chavez Family Vision, Teatro Nagual, and San Jose City College to partner together and produce this inspiring theatrical production that will touch the hearts, minds and souls of the people.

Let the Eagle Fly is a critically acclaimed, high quality production. It is important that this show be presented here in San Jose, to which Cesar devoted so much of himself. This ambitious undertaking requires that we seek partnership from civic-minded organizations and individuals. Help us to ensure that Cesar’s legacy of faith, perseverance and understanding will endure. The Chavez Family Vision is a duly incorporated public non-profit organization. We take great pride in responsible stewardship of our funds and resources. We respectfully request that you join us in this most worthwhile effort by exercising one of the following options
