Corrosion Control
Technician II
Job Description:
To perform technical duties in all phases of the District’s corrosion control
program including office, field, laboratory and site duties; to perform pipe
to soil potential surveys on an as-needed basis; to monitor, operate, inspect
and repair cathodic protection systems; and to perform a variety of technical
tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
Experience/Skills:
Experience: Three years of responsible experience in corrosion control or related
experience and Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented
by college level course work in a related technical field.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required. This position
requires entry into manholes, enclosed vaults, and other confined spaces under
adverse environmental conditions and some entries will require the lifting of
vault doors/hatches, which can be rather heavy. Experience working with rectifiers
and corrosion test stations for pipeline distribution and transmission systems
and with performing pipe to soil potential surveys and other corrosion surveys
is desired. Must take the NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers)
Basic Corrosion course and examination within six months of hire date. Prior
to appointment, candidates will be required to successfully complete a medical
examination.
Salary:
$5,216.16 - $6,355.38 per month—Based on a five-step salary plan. Includes
District payment of 8% PERS—Public Employees’ Retirement System
